Please have a read of the most frequently asked questions below. If you need help with something else please send us an email.

1. How old do I need to be to rent a campervan?

To rent a campervan from our company, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license. Additional age restrictions may apply to certain vehicle types. If you are on a New Zealand Restricted licence this is also accepted provided you are still driving to your restrictions.

2. Do I need a special license to drive a campervan in New Zealand?

In most cases, a standard driver’s license is sufficient to drive a campervan in New Zealand. However, if your license is not in English, you will need to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) or an official translation of your license. You can find a list of approved translators here.

3. Can I pick up and drop off the campervan at different locations?

Campervans must be picked up from our premises in Palmerston North. We can offer flexible drop-off options though. Additional fees may apply depending on the locations chosen.

4. Are there any restrictions on where I can take the campervan?

Our campervans are permitted for use on sealed roads and well-maintained gravel roads. However, off-road driving (including driving on beaches) is prohibited.

5. What amenities are included in the campervan?

Our campervans come equipped with basic amenities such as cooking facilities and camping chairs/table. You can hire bedding for $15 per double set and towels (bath sheet size) for $8 each.

6. Is there a minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period varies depending on the time of year and availability. Generally, there is a minimum rental period of two to four days out of peak season and a 14 day minimum during peak seasons. However, if you are booking far in advance there may be a 30 day minimum in place between October – April. This will reduce down to the standards as we get closer to the time. Please contact us if you would like to book a hire less than this and we might be able to fit you in early.

7. Can I bring my pet along in the campervan?

We can allow well behaved dogs on request. If you are confident they wont chew or scratch the interior of the campervan we can have your dog join your trip for an additional pet fee. This is $60 for the smaller campervans and $100 for the 6 berth motorhomes.

8. What happens in case of a breakdown or emergency?

Our campervans undergo regular maintenance to minimise the risk of breakdowns. However, in the event of an emergency or mechanical issue, our vehicles have 24/7 roadside assistance over with AA. We will also be at the end of the phone to help you get back to your adventure ASAP.

9. Is there a security deposit/bond required when renting a campervan?

Yes, a security deposit is required 2 days before vehicle pick-up. The amount varies depending on the insurance coverage selected. You can see your options here. The deposit is refunded upon the safe return of the campervan, provided there are no damages or additional charges incurred during the rental period.

10. Can I modify or cancel my reservation?

Modifications and cancellations are subject to our rental terms and conditions. Depending on the timing of your request and the availability of alternative options, fees may apply. Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss any changes to your booking.
